John Curtis, raised in Southport, NC, studied trombone at the University of North Carolina and later earned a Master's from the University of New Mexico. After serving in the Army as an electric bass player, he shifted focus to arranging and composition, currently working as staff arranger and performance librarian at the U.S. Army School of Music.
