Connie Salmon Norsworthy, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, lived through her first year amidst the tropical rainforest and later moved to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands before settling in East Orange, New Jersey. She played flute in her high school band at Sleepy Hollow High School in Tarrytown, New York, and met her husband there. They relocated to Connecticut in 1987 for job opportunities.
